GWOT Veterans may get Recognition they
As most of you know, there is an initiative, started by our Post for the Global War on Terror Veterans to receive a day of recognition and a parade in their honor. In that effort a letter was sent to every member of the Michigan Legislature and the Governor asking for this to happen, it was accompanied by six pages of endorsements including a very strong letter from the Chief Veterans Officer in the County our very own Laura Rios.
We have received feedback and they want suggestions; I spoke with a person in the office of State Legislature, Marilyn Lane (D) Fraser who was very positive about supporting the project, I also spoke with a Representative for Peter Lucido (R) Shelby Township who is interested in Introducing a Bill to accomplish this, they are asking us to Pick a Day we think would best reflect on the GWOT Vets, the obvious choice would be 9-11, however, that may get lost in all the other items going on that day, I suggest 10-7, it was October 7th 2001 that Operation Enduring Freedom began with our Airstrikes into Afghanistan, please go to our Facebook Page: facebook.com/vfw4659 and post your comments so we can let Representative Lucido know what day is best for the GWOT VET Day of Recognition

Welcome to your NEW WEB PAGE
There will be many new things to look at, I encourage you to explore all the pages above, particularly News & Events and Gallery
each will have sub-categories to explore, for example under News & Events you will have items like, Newsletters, Holly National Cemetery, Goldstar Mothers, Blood Drive, Peach Festival, and so on, by clicking on them there will be more information behind the scenes. In the Gallery you will find many categories that will include pictures behind each category, theses will be from older events. There is also an Officers Page
that will allow you to get to know your elected officers better (this is still under construction waiting for more input). After you browse through the pages (Tabs) on top of the Home Page, don't forget to check out the bottom of the page for more places to visit, for example Programs,
which if clicked on will explain how a student in the local high school can apply for the Carl LaRock Scholarship Program
and even have a link for the form to fill out. Please remember this site is brand new and many things need to be added/updated, please check back frequently. If you receive error codes working the site you may email me at email@example.com
